Promoting innovative educational concepts for a democratic and sustainable society
Climate change, biodiversity loss, social inequality and intercultural conflicts are making our world increasingly complex. Access to education is still not a given in many places, and learning is often associated with the acquisition of knowledge rather than the development of skills. At the same time, dealing with sustainability, democracy, cultural diversity and technological foundations is rarely part of daily life. Fostering digital and social skills, as well as creativity and critical thinking, is particularly important in our complex and interconnected world.
Solutions may be found in new technologies, but also in changes in everyday behavior and social interactions. Contextual and experiential learning requires concepts that complement formal education and resonate with the learners’ lived experiences.
